ingredients of traditional sodas, with some additional health benefits thrown in &#8211; including gut health benefits and Vitamin C.<\/p>\n<div class=\"art-ins mol-factbox floatRHS health\" data-version=\"2\" id=\"mol-65bf2b50-4220-11f1-8b48-896507624db0\" data-permabox-url=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.com\/health\/article-15759195\/Gut-health-sodas-RANKED-health-Dieticians-verdict-trendy-fizzy-drinks-Poppi-XOXO-Nexba-wary-key-ingredient-trigger-EXTREME-bloating.html\">\n<h3 class=\"mol-factbox-title\">Pre, pro and postbiotics<\/h3>\n<div class=\"ins cleared mol-factbox-body\">\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\"><span class=\"mol-style-bold\">Prebiotics<\/span> are indigestible food ingredients, such as fiber, that act as fertilisers to stimulate the growth of bugs in the digestive tract.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\"><span class=\"mol-style-bold\">Probiotics<\/span> specifically introduce new bacteria into the gut.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\"><span class=\"mol-style-bold\">Postbiotics<\/span> are compounds made when the gut microbiome has digested prebiotics.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\"><span class=\"mol-style-bold\">Ms Medlin says:<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">&#8216;My concern with this drink is that the ingredients are likely to cause bloating, and also the fact that it contains sweeteners.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">&#8216;The\u00a0fibre comes from inulin and the sweetener is stevia, a natural sugar &#8220;alternative&#8221; which a few of these drinks have.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">&#8216;The problem with stevia is that we know our gut doesn&#8217;t like sweeteners, but we haven&#8217;t got to a place yet where we&#8217;re able to say that stevia is definitely better for the gut than others.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">&#8216;So as much as it&#8217;s natural and probably the least harmful and risky of all the sorts of sweeteners, we still don&#8217;t have an exact answer on how much it can impact our gut bacteria.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">&#8216;The drink also contains Vitamin C which is an antioxidant, so there&#8217;s some benefit there &#8211; Since then, the brand has won awards for their product, and been shown to improve healthy gut bacteria in a study by Glasgow Caledonian University.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\"><span class=\"mol-style-bold\">Ms Medlin says:\u00a0<span class=\"mol-style-bold\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span>&#8216;I\u00f3 water is also unusual because it has corn fibre in it.
