A\u00a0recall<\/a>\u00a0is being issued for popular beverages sold\u00a0by convenience store-giant Wawa.<\/p>\n

The rest-stop icon is recalling four types of drinks sold in its stores across five states because they contain undeclared milk.<\/p>\n

The recall applies to Wawa Iced Tea Lemon in 16 oz pint bottles sold in 123 stores across Delaware<\/a>, Maryland<\/a>, New Jersey<\/a>, Pennsylvania<\/a> and Virginia<\/a>. The date on the bottles is May 15, 2026.<\/p>\n

Also part of the recall is Wawa Iced Diet Tea Lemon in 16 oz pint bottle sold in eight stores in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. The date on the bottle is May 18, 2026.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Third in the recall is Wawa Diet Lemonade in 16 oz pint bottles sold in 12 stories in Delaware and New Jersey. The date on the bottle is May 18, 2026.<\/p>\n

Last in the recall is Wawa Fruit Punch in 16 oz pint bottles sold in 53 stores in\u00a0Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Virginia. The date on the bottles is May 19, 2026.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The products may contain milk but the milk is not listed on the ingredients label, posing a threat to the six million Americans with a milk allergy.<\/p>\n

The FDA notice said: ‘People who have allergies to milk run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction<\/a> if they consume this product.’<\/p>\n

No illnesses have been reported in connection to this recall.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

The recall has not yet been given a classification but may later be labelled at Class I, which refers to ‘a situation in which there is a reasonable probability that the use of or exposure to a violative product will cause serious adverse health consequences or death.’<\/p>\n

Symptoms of an allergy to milk include hives, wheezing, coughing, congestion, face and throat swelling and in severe cases, anaphylaxis.<\/p>\n

This is a life-threatening allergic reaction that occurs very quickly after being exposed to an allergen.<\/p>\n

Experts estimate 150 to 200 Americans die from allergen-induced anaphylaxis every year. It triggers an extreme immune response, leading to dizziness, fainting, shortness of breath and vomiting.<\/p>\n

If not treated quickly with epinephrine (adrenaline), which can be administered via injection like an EpiPen or nasal spray, a person can die.<\/p>\n

The notice said the recall was initiated after Wawa identified and corrected a temporary equipment issue that may have resulted in the presence of an undeclared milk allergen in the beverages.\u00a0<\/p>\n

It continued: ‘Wawa\u2019s primary concern is always for the health and safety of our customers and associates. In the public\u2019s interest, we have removed this product from sales at all of the impacted stores and activated this recall.’<\/p>\n

People who have purchased the products are being urged to throw them away and to contact Wawa for a refund\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
