{"id":6201,"date":"2022-07-24T11:12:46","date_gmt":"2022-07-24T11:12:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dailyhealthybox.com\/2022\/07\/24\/researchers-look-at-plant-extracts-as-a-natural-treatment-for-wrinkles-and-skin-aging\/"},"modified":"2022-07-24T11:12:46","modified_gmt":"2022-07-24T11:12:46","slug":"researchers-look-at-plant-extracts-as-a-natural-treatment-for-wrinkles-and-skin-aging","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.healthoptibody.com\/?p=6201","title":{"rendered":"Researchers look at plant extracts as a natural treatment for wrinkles and skin aging"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><!-- - --><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"max-width:1000px;width:100%\" border=\"0\" src=\"http:\/\/demo2.tadke.com\/health-news-s\/uploads\/health-news-s0423\/Woman-Old-Young-Aging-Face1402.jpg\"><\/p>\n<p><!-- - --><\/p>\n<hr class=\"Marker\" id=\"Marker2\">\n<p>A study published in the journal <i>BMC Complementary and Alternative Medicine <\/i>found that extracts of herbal plants, such as <i>Nyctanthes arbor-tristis, Aegle marmelos, <\/i>and<i> Musa paradisiaca <\/i>flower<i>, <\/i>can be used as an anti-aging agents in skin creams and as anti-proliferation compounds against cancer cells.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A team of researchers at <i>Dayananda Sagar College of Engineering\u00a0<\/i>and <i>SRM Institute of Science and Technology\u00a0<\/i>in India examined the anti-aging properties and cytotoxicity on cells of the leaf extracts of <i>Nyctanthes arbor-tristis, <\/i>unripe and ripe fruit pulp extracts of<i> Aegle marmelos, <\/i>and<i> <\/i>terminal meristem extracts of <i>Musa paradisiaca <\/i>flower.<i> <\/i><\/li>\n<li>The research team analyzed the phytochemical contents of the plant extracts for radical scavenging activity and total reducing power.<\/li>\n<li>They developed a poly-herbal formulation which was composed of the leaves of <i>Nyctanthes arbor-tristis<\/i>, unripe and ripe fruit pulp of <i>Aegle marmelos<\/i>, and the terminal meristem of<i> Musa paradisiaca<\/i> flower in two ratios \u2013 6:2:1:1 (Poly Herbal Formulation 1) and 1:1:1:1 (Poly Herbal Formulation 2).<\/li>\n<li>Poly Herbal Formulation 1 was found to be more potent than the Poly Herbal Formulation 2 because it had better anti-oxidant and anti-elastase activities in NIH3T3 fibroblast cells.<\/li>\n<li>The plant extracts can be used as a potential agent in preventing skin aging and restoring skin elasticity due to their antioxidant properties.<\/li>\n<li>Moreover, Poly Herbal Formulation 1 had better anti-cancer activity in human cancer melanoma cells.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Overall, the findings of the study indicated that the plant extracts can potentially prevent skin aging and be used as an agent for skin cancer treatment.<\/p>\n<p>For the full text of the study, go to this link.<\/p>\n<p>Journal Reference:<\/p>\n<p>Sundaram IK, Sarangi DD, Sundararajan V, George S, Mohideen SS.
